Synopsis:

Traffic Management Systems are one of key technologies underpinning the UK mainline Digital Railway strategy. They are seen as a key means of improving train service performance by deconflicting timetable operation and enabling better recovery from delays. The early Traffic Management deployments are now completing and the next tranche of schemes are being initiated.

This talk will explain how traffic management (TM) works in the National Railway context and some of the challenges and complexities of TM delivery. The similarities and contrasts with the metro environment will be explored. The status of current schemes will be shared along with future schemes and strategy.
